Holmenkol 5mm Plexi Wax Scraper is a beefier version of the 3mm scraper and suitable for more robust workshop and race use. It’s a simple and easy to use plastic scraper suitable for removing excessive wax when hot waxing skis or snowboards. It also has a notched corner for removing wax from the metal edge and one square and one round corner for removing wax from skis with groves in the base.

This version of the brush is the World Cup standard model with a large ovalised block wood base and double riveted handle for secure grip and more even pressure.

This model also has 33% longer hairs than the compact model at 12mm, to extend brush life and give a deeper polish for waxes and race dressings. This hair length matches the horsehair brush version too for a perfect partnership!

The hairs used by Holmenkol have a perfect balance between longevity and performance, compared to cheaper alternatives, with the outer hairs slightly more durable to reduce brush 'flare' compression over time.

Pair this Holmenkol Oval Brush Nylon Base Structure Brush with a brush such as the Holmenkol Horsehair Base Brush or a brass based brush, and you can add multiple profiles of structures to your base wax, to improve glide performance by further reducing stiction.

Ultra Mix Blue by Holmenkol is a high quality coldest conditions ski and snowboard wax for when the temperature really drops on the mountain.

When the snow temperature tumbles below -8°C and towards -20°C this wax will perform. 

Recommended iron temperature: 135-145°C

Snow temperature range: -8 to -20°C

Snow types: all snow types - especially effective on cold corn snow and old coarse snow

A much harder wax compound, it resists coarse snow crystals and hard abrasive snow that colder conditions bring, and retains its structure for longer as a result.

For best results use a brass/bronze brush alongside a nylon wax brush to really open the structure up and help improve glide performance.

With this wax set your iron to 140°C and ONLY use a ski waxing iron at this temperature as this is right on the limit of the maximum temperature you can use on bases without risk of delamination.
